Have a nice day.
This is continuation of the talks on "Chess in Education Research",

If you are a fan of professional chess, play chess tournaments or want to explore the game more, you can have a look on the following text.
Some of the chess websites I found very useful (worth more than reading dozens of popular chess books).
you can find tens of thousands of Grand Master (GM) chess games in PGN file format which can be viewed in a PGN editor..Its all free download.
http://www.gmchess.com
GM games of 1970s, 80, 90s and till 2000s for analyzing and improving your chess-game..and to learn the hundreds of standard Chess Openings and variations of it..analyze the Middle-Game of chess..and to learn lot on End-Games strategies, etc.
You need a PGN viewer software to analyze the games..many are available FREE in internet.
In bookshops if you want to get some 100+ GM level game-bases only you need to pay more than 30US$ or more. In that website, you get ten of thousands of such game-bases for free.
If you want to explore the standard Chess Openings used by GMs (an extensive analysis of thousands of GM games played around the world during last some TWO CENTURIES) refer, http://www.chessgames.com/
If you analyse some of those game bases you could see that Opening Games like
Ruy Lopez Opening,
Sicilian defence/Opening,
French Opening,
Reti Opening,
Two Knights,
Kings Indian, etc and variations of these are the most popular Chess Openings used by the Grand Masters.
For example, if you observe the Opening Game selection of greats like Gary Kasparov during last some 25 years...,
When Kasparov has Black-side, he make the white-side to reach Sicilian Defense if white starts with E4 opening, (e4-c5, Nf3-e6, d4-cxd4,...)..this could be seen in his hundreds of international games.
When Kasparov has White-side, the typical openings he choose from hundreds of book openings are:
- Queen's-Gambit-Accepted,
- Ruy Lopez,
- Caro-Kann,
- Scandinavian,
- King's Indian,
- Scotch Game,
- French-Tarrasch variation,
- Reti Opening,
- Nimzo-Indian-Classical-Noa Variation, etc.
and Viswanathan Anand's favorite is Ruy Lopez when he gets White provided the opponent play E5 against his first E4 move.
If you analyse those GM games for some months only, the way you normally play chess get an enlightenment! sure..I bet it..After some months of this GM-games analysis you feel like you read some 100 books of professional chess...a reverse engineering way of learning..and no need of a professional-Chess teacher.
If you don't have a .PGN viewer, download this FREE one..(and it is a good quality Chess software using which you can play against PC) Version: NagaSkaki 3.07 File: skaki_307.zip (1.8 MB)
Platforms supported: Windows 95/98/NT/XP/2000
http://www.geocities.com/nagaskaki/download.html
Lets feel the beauty of unlimited patterns of chess..the best leisure game humanity has ever created with the simulations of real-life strategies..the game of nearing perfection of strategy.
regards,
Rajesh Sulabha
